Materials: Dictionary

How To Play: Using a dictionary, the leader (teacher or student)
picks and reads aloud a word relevant to current areas of study or
daily life, but one that many students do not yet know. Students write
possible definitions. The leader collects the definitions in a box,
along with the correct one. After students take turns reading them all,
they can choose which one they think is correct.

Variations: Leader randomly selects a page from the
dictionary, browses it, and selects one of the more difficult words on
the page for use in the game. This variation gives the leader some
choice in the words selected for use.

OR

Leader randomly selects a page from the dictionary, browses it, and
selects a word that has multiple meanings, or a word that can be used as
more than one part of speech, or one that has a formal and casual use,
etc
